Ya know them cheap little boom stands ...

.... from GC?
Like $20 for one. Works good on gettin' the mic inside the bass.

Well, the damned guitarist kept kicking mine!
I fixed that ...

The vent will get replaced with an XLR socket, when I get one ..... someday.

Maybe.

Now to work on my home-brewed sub-kick. Yay!

Cool! I'd do something like that except I flip flop between my 22" & 26" so often.
I used to have May internals back in the 80's in my big R Rogers kit. I had a subsnake and & I'd place the box right between the bass drums. I located the XLR sockets so that the cords would come out of the bass drums & right down the the snake box. I even made blue cords which matched the wrap very closely, each cord was about 16" long, looked slick as hell.

Great idea!
Have you tested it yet? Any vibration noises?

that was my question. I don't see any kind of anti-shock rubber or whatever
on that rig.

I haven't tested yet .... will today.
The elbow adjustment thingy, is sandwiched by two generous rubber washers.
I'll venture to bet it'll be just fine as far as shock-mount is concerned. Any shock noise will likely be negated by the loud BOOM happening inside the drum.

I made it.
Cut the threaded section off an old flexible mic goose-neck and welded it to the plate of metal.
Drilled the holes and painted it.

Welded it?

You're officially a MANLY man then!

Good job - better patent it before someone else does...

Nice job. Since I have no welding skills, do they have bass mic mounts that attach to the inside of the shell? I know of the MAY system, but something with just the holder is what I'm thinking of.

I also wonder, if they do make them, would the hole pattern by arranged the same so I could use my existing spur or cymbal mount screws to secure it so I don't have to drill?

Nice DIY. Hopefully your guitarist doesn't start kicking your bass drum now...
