Question thirded. Looking forward to the test results. It looks nice and sturdy!

MY first solution would have been to wander over and kick the guitar player's equipment now and then...

It sounds the same as it did before ..... I stomp on the pedal and it goes boom in my IEM's.
If it's making any shock noise ... it better do it a little louder if it wants anyone to hear it.

I'll dink around with recording after I finish wiring up my sub-kick and other hair-brained ideas I got goin' on.

I can't really blame Ed (guitar player) for kicking it though. It's pretty cramped in my little shed.

Anyway, I could only find a female XLR socket .... so I used it. Either I'll get an adapter or I'll wire up a cable with two male ends.

Look ... see.

This pry ain't big enough for mojo's blow hole .... but, it'll fit right in front of mine.
If it works well, I'll shell it up and make it look purdy.

Thanks for the props guys!

I did something similar years ago to my fibes kick, they make a mike attachment to mount on a regular mike stand for acoustic guitar per se, I modded it, mount to the screws for the spur, thick rubber washers, it is still in there, still works great and has taken a beating through the years.....

Nice job Ken. I love my Mays. I just wish I had more for each kit..

Rob, there used to be a company making mount for this, but I haven't seen or heard anything about them in a long time. They were called S.I.B. Mounts and mounted to your lug screws like the Mays attaching your own mic of choice. Getting the cord outside of the drum was your problem. I don't see why someone couldn't make them as Ken did. Find a local machine shop and talk to them. Also, take them lots of pics, they may get a new idea, but they certainly have a better understanding when they can visualize what you are talking about.

May does offer a shock mount to mount your own mic but it is fucking ridiculously priced....

Good luck...

I'll venture to bet it'll be just fine as far as shock-mount is concerned. Any shock noise will likely be negated by the loud BOOM happening inside the drum.

I made it.
Cut the threaded section off an old flexible mic goose-neck and welded it to the plate of metal.
Drilled the holes and painted it.
Call it a Crankz Mount and patent it!! Quick! Before Pearl does!

Mercy mercy .... the sub-kick is sensitive as all get out.
Actually, I had to use a different speaker. The other musta had voice coil issues (sounded all dirty).
Anyway, this other speaker works quite well. Extremely sensitive as well. Even after building in a -20db pad. Barely needs any gain at all.

It's cool though ... gives that 808 sound.
Recordings will be forthcoming. Sometime.

heh .... now the bass player will be kicking the sub-kick. :-/
