Waiting... Waiting

Posted 08-12-2010 at 05:28 PM by steveprimatic

So, I'm still waiting on my final 6 lugs to get this thing complete. I have posted pictures of most of the kit in the Showcase: http://www.ghostnote.net/vbforum/sho...415#post395415.

It has been a fun build, and I learned quite a bit from the experience. I don't know when I will do another build this extensive, but I sure will be more prepared.

Thanks for reading.

Assembly begins

I don't use any revolutionary methods here, I just my DF layout mat and some blue painter's tape. I do first stick the tape to my shirt to lessen its adhesive properties. Last thing I ever want to...

Snare

Posted 06-26-2010 at 10:53 AM by steveprimatic

I decided to get a snare shell started, but I don't know when I will finish the drum. I haven't budgeted money for hardware, but I wanted to have the shell finished.

Here is the board crosscut and numbered to maintain grain flow:

Pure repetition has allowed me to get quicker in my shell assembly....

Hardware

Posted 06-25-2010 at 10:00 AM by steveprimatic

I did a lot of thinking about hardware for this kit. My first thought was to use some cheap taillight lugs. I wasn't sure if the build would be successful. As the turning progressed, I changed my mind. I always liked single-point round lugs, and my choices were narrowed to Egonis, Ghostnote, and Allstar. The Egonis would be the least expensive, but I know that wait time can be a factor. I have always wanted to try Allstar lugs, but again, wait time would have been a big factor (Bob, aka Kanbasher,...
