It has been a fun build, and I learned quite a bit from the experience. I don't know when I will do another build this extensive, but I sure will be more prepared.

I began drilling the bass drum for lugs and spurs. If there is any point of this process that scares me, it's drilling into a pristine shell. I don't use any revolutionary methods here, I just my DF layout mat and some blue painter's tape. I do first stick the tape to my shirt to lessen its adhesive properties. I decided to get a snare shell started, but I don't know when I will finish the drum. I haven't budgeted money for hardware, but I wanted to have the shell finished.

I did a lot of thinking about hardware for this kit. My first thought was to use some cheap taillight lugs. I wasn't sure if the build would be successful. As the turning progressed, I changed my mind. I always liked single-point round lugs, and my choices were narrowed to Egonis, Ghostnote, and Allstar.
